As part of the ongoing sea front improvements the Environment Agency has added two hundred tonnes of sand to Thorney Bay beach.

The sand has been spread the full width of the beach, and between the top of the beach and the top of the groins that are visible in image one.
I assume that any sand deposited below the tops of the groins would be eventually washed away by tidal action.

Even more reason to take the grandchildren to the beach and build sandcastles!
