Barry Campagna (Councillor CIIP), has provided more information on the progress of the new Pavilion located in the Wooden Park, close to the seawall.
Plans for the new Pavilion were approved by Castle Point Council Planning Committee on the 7th of February 2023.
On Thursday 14th March 2024, Spades struck the ground for the first time as local dignitaries welcomed the start of work to build the new £1.5million pavilion.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
The project will see the construction of a new build pavilion, associated external works, and car park extension improvements. The project forms part of the regeneration programme for Canvey Island’s seafront by providing improvements to the facilities and visitor experience.
Colchester-based property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood is providing full planning, design, project management, and contract administration services from inception to completion for the regeneration scheme.
Another Colchester-based company, TJ Evers is responsible for the construction of the Pavilion and associated external works.
Construction is planned to start on Monday 18th March with work starting on the new carpark extension first.
Construction is due to complete in early December 2024 with formal handover of the new facilities scheduled for early January 2025. Click on links to open pictures.
